Loads of confusion...Pentium D or AMD???

heyy guyz i hav MSI RS480M2 but now as i will b goin for a 6600gt card so i thought of changin da mobo to NForce 4 chipset as well as 19'' monitor,already hav 512 ram but one more 512ddr 400mhz ram so dat will make 1gb,160gb sata seagate hdd.but as pentium d has been launched and will soon hit da indian market so i m not able 2 decide dat i shud carry on wid my AMD 3000+(939) proc wid gud mobo or shud wait for a month or 2 for pentium d proc?but for dis i hav 2 go for DDR2 ram which is quite expensive as compared 2 DDR and dun hav much diff in da performance i guess but i can do one thin instead of goin for 1gb ddr ram i can go for 512 DDR2 which will b more futureproof.basically i wanna pc for hardcore gamin and AMD is far betta for gamin but as i will b goin for 6600gt card den i guess pentium d is a betta choice.wat u guyz hav 2 say bout dis?

stick with your current config man..just put ur graphic card in and add some more ram..

If u r going after each and every new processor, and if that's ur hobby, then go for an intel one.. bcoz i'm damn sure they're going to screw u up like anything, there will be newer chipsets for your mobo in an year or so, non-compatible new lines of processors-mobos...which bosts of dual core nd blah blah...u know what they were demanding about HT when that was released...

INTEL = Total waste of money

dont change ur processor dude , do the following if u want a good gaming machine ,

change ur mobo to msi-k8 neo 4 platinum or asus a8ne (both based on nforce 4 ultra chipset)

get 1 gb of ddr 400 mhz ram from a good manufacturer such as kingston , corsair etc.

go for 2*80 Gb SATA hdd's with n.c.q and set them up in raid and u will get excellent perfomance.

go for the 19' samsung crt , its worth going for a 19" monitor if u r a gaming freak.

finally go for the leadtek or gainward 6600 gt 128 mb pci-e and njoy !!!


dont go for a dual core pentium d , as its not going to be of much use now and it wont perform in games at any cost as current games wont utilize its dual core processing capabilities.

and ya make sure u have a good cabinet with min 400W SMPS (antec,coolermaster) so that ur rig stays safe. buy a 600/800VA UPS also. and u dont have a dvd rom man .. get it !!!! and chuck ur creative inspire 4.1 and get an altec lansing vs 3151 r ... all this shud satisfy u i suppose.

well yea i dun hav a DVD-rom and will soon buy one.2*80 Gb SATA hdd's with n.c.q and set them up in raid and u will get excellent perfomance???how does dat work and hope it wont create any problem?wat if i go for juz one 160gb sata seagate hdd?well juz came to kno dat 17''inch Acer LCD is juz for some where 15k so mite go for dat as i guess 17inch LCD will b betta den 19''crt.but if wont go for 17LCD den definitely go for a 19''inch samsung moni.sum of my relative r going 2 US dis month so will ask den to get 6800gt card if it will b possible for den as it will cost me sum where around 13-14k,if dat does not happens den definitely Gainward 6600gt.will c bout da speakers later and will buy important thins rite now.i guess its true dat current games wont utilize its dual core processing capabilities but still for other thins it will b useful for me.and as i will b going for a proper card so feel dat it will b able 2 play all da latest games on pentium d proc so dat will b a bonus for me as i m going for almost everythin.i m insistin on pentium d proc bcoz i hav seen one thin dat AMD does not work dat well wen u use more den 1 program.

2*80 gb sata n.c.q's in raid will offer much better perfomance than a single 160 gb sata ncq .... there are no probs in this and i have requested a tut for setting up a raid system but nobody has posted one as yet .. guyz r u listening ? .... dont go for the acer lcd according to me ... also check its specs properly and take a demo ... make sure its response time is around 12ms ... and get a gainward 256 mb 6800 ultra golden sample from the u.s of a ... it will be really cheap there and it is one hell of a card man ...and ya theres no dubt that u will benefit frm a dual core procc later on but then again if u buy it ull have to spend extra on a new mobo + ddr2 which will increase costs .. and u r right when u say amd is a lil sluggish when u r multi tasking ... intel's ht technology has its own advantages. now guyz plz sont start another war on intel vs amd ... we have had enuf !!!

DEAR GODS !!!

WHO TOLD U MAN..AMD IS NOT GOOD FOR RUNNING MULTIPLE PROGRAMS ? i HAVE DONE MOST OF MY DVD WRITING WHILE WATCHING DVD MOVIES FROM MY DVD DRIVE...THAT TOO IN WINMP10,WITH EQ AND ALL OTHER SOUND ENHANCEMENTS ENABLED. eVEN IF THE VIRUS SCAN STARTS THEN, THERE WILL NOT BE ANY STABILITY PROBS.

I HAVE AN OLD AMD ATHLONXP 1600+, AND 1GB RAM, SO B4 COMING TO ANY CONCLUSION, PLS CHECK ON THE SPECIFICATION. AMD IS ANY DAY BETTER THAN THE SO CALLED PENTIUM 4's. GO FOR AMD IF U R INTO SERIOUS GAMING.
