Lenovo or Dell??

Well, i searched all and sundry and came down to two options.

The Dell XPS15 or the Lenovo Z570. I know there are other options available but the Sony VAIO series is too costly for my tastes. Also, i have a desktop and a PS3 so wont be using it for playing games either. I would be programming, watching movies, listening to music, blogging and thats about it.

So what should i go for? Should an i5 2nd gen processor suffice to my needs? And i repeat, no games. Lots of programming. Java,php, .net, python etc is the way ahead for me.

If gaming is not your requirement, then pick a laptop with integrated gpu or a low-end gpu. A 2nd gen i5 would definitely suffice your requirements.

The XPS15 has a powerful gpu meant for gaming. So it is better that you save some money & get something low-end like the Z570.

Give us full configs of what you have selected....

I think Y570 will be cheaper....get it with a Sandy Bridge i5 and a GT- 540m or higher.

I called up Lenovo customer care today and asked them about the Z570. The Z570 with core i5 2410,3gb ram,nvidia 525 graphics puts me back by 43k+taxes. The Dell xps would be around 51 grands. But since i wont be changing my laptop for quite sometime, its pretty enticing to go for a SB core I7 and make it pretty much future proof. :D
