One of my cousin's friend has enrolled for some BSC IT distance program & is also learning .net, C programming & Java from an reputed institute.
He is in need of laptop so want your expert opinions.
1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
Rs.25000/- can extend to 3000 INR if its really future-proof.
2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
Netbook; 11" - 10” screen or less
Thin and Light; 12" - 14" screen
Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen
Ideal size 14" - 15.6" is ok, lighter the better.
3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
He is learning .net, java & C language & want to run all compilers. Further he has enrolled for BSC IT Distance program.
Other than this basic Office task, Net surfing, Music & Movies.
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
Not sure what to suggest him but an core i3 4th gen would be gr8 IMO else...
AMD A8 or Pentium Quad core whichever is powerful.
4 GB Ram would be future proof IMO
6) Anything else you would like to say?
Screen resolution ( 768p (HD) / 900p / 1080p (Full HD) )
Battery back up ( normal (3-4hrs) / extended (5-7hrs) )
Purchase place ( Online (eg - flipkart, infibeam) / Local / Abroad (do mention the country) )
Basic HD resolution will do but no harm in getting better resolution screen within his budget.
Antiglare matt Display preferred.
500 GB HDD is sufficient
Windows 8 or 8.1 OS needed & Backpack should be included in the package
Battery upto 6 hrs & should be lighter to carry.
Comfortable buying online or offline in Mumbai [whichever is cheaper]
