Around 60K INR, willing to extend if need be.

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
Movies, MS office, etc. Need it to play nice with Linux (Most probably Ubuntu). Bonus if its Hackintosh friendly. Mild gaming (looking at a 940MX at least, but hoping one of you will find something that will run Witcher 3 on low).

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
i5 8th gen / 8GB RAM / 940MX or better / 1 TB HDD with either SSD or DVD drive.

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Like : Asus, HP, Dell
Dislike : Acer, Lenovo

6) Anything else you would like to say?
FullHD is a requirement. Linux support is a requirement. And please find something Hackintoshable.

Shortlisted 4 laptops, from HP, Asus. All Core i5 8th gen, full HD display, Geforce 940MX and 8 gigs of RAM, and comes with SSD (although not sure what you can do with mere 8 GB SSD).

The Dell Inspiron 7000 one though, albeit having Core i5 7th gen, seems to be the most costly (Rs 70k), but it also have the most neat reviews. This laptop have higher core clock frequency then 8th gen models, and also 4 GB graphics memory (required for visually intensive games like GTA V and Witcher). The only con seems to be that it's RAM is not upgradable since it only have 1 RAM slot.

One more interesting thing to note is that the laptop HP Pavilion15-CC129TX and Asus K510UQ-BQ667T have very similar specs while price difference is almost 10 thousand!

Helios 300 (with 1050ti) usually goes for 50-60k Hence the suggestion. 940Mx isn't even a good laptop GPU option.

Mx150 is 940Mx replacement, if you must have a laptop with that range of GPU go for MX150 it performs on par with 950M.

Gaming isnt an exact requirement. Just need something for a little weekend fun.

I'll look for 7th gen H line then.

See, my laptop has 6th gen i5 6300HQ & I use it to run simulations, etc other than gaming. A better CPU will reduce my simulation times but the extra cost for a min or so of saved time isn't worth 10k or so. So an i5 7300HQ + 1050Ti is sufficient for you.

For futureproofing a gaming laptop, get a better GPU, not CPU.

That being said, i5 8300H + 1050Ti variant of Helios 300 was being sold for 64k in Flipkart during a sale, so wait for sales.
