No preference like that. Just a good product with good after sales service. I find HP ASS is not good, so like to stay away from HP.

No Win 8 please.

Screen resolution ( 768p (HD) / 900p / 1080p (Full HD) )
Battery back up ( normal (3-4hrs) / extended (5-7hrs) )
Purchase place ( Online (eg - flipkart, infibeam) / Local / Abroad (do mention the country) )
A good battery backup will be beneficial

HP 4445S ProBook (APU Dual Core A6/ 2GB/ 500GB/ DOS) - HP: Flipkart.com just check it out and tell me your view or else I have something else for you. But this looks really expensive though compared to others in this price range.

Looks really good, the design is really pro. But also it is getting a little out of budget. I like to keep an open mind for this one. Let me know the other option as well.

I really want to stay away from Win 8.
Had to use one for office few days and I don't like it at all.

HP 4445S fulfills all your requirements but it is overpriced. i have it. G500 looks good but has weak GPU. another option is Acer Aspire E1-522A Laptop (APU Quad Core/ 2GB/ 500GB/ Win8) but again weak spec with high price.
