Need recommendations for a colleague.

Right now, you can get Asus FX505 with R5 3550H + GTX 1650 for 55-58k on sales. This looks great now though:
Buy Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43 15.6-inch Laptop (AMD Ryzen 5 3550H/8GB/1TB HDD + 256GB SSD/Windows 10 Home 64 bit/GTX 1650 - 4GB Graphics), Obsidian Black Online at Low Prices in India - Amazon.in
Just add another 8GB RAM stick later.

If you can wait for month, wait. Ryzen 4000 powered laptops are coming soon. R5 4600H performs 10% better than i7 9750H. Something like R5 4600H + GTX 1650 for 55-60k is expected. Maybe GTX 1650Ti at 65k.

I could’ve but the colleague would want to stick with their brand preference of HP, Dellz

We shortlisted this one, is it ok?

Its performance is way inferior, don't even expect to play latest big games, whereas GTX 1650 can run all games for at least 2 years.

I don't recommend Dell laptops in India as they are always overpriced compared to competition. I can understand people not trusting Acer & Asus enough, even though they make great gaming laptops, but why hate against Lenovo? Lenovo is as good as HP, if not Dell.

Lenovo Y540 with i5 9300H & GTX 1650 goes on sale for 60k, now will likely be more expensive. HP Pavilion gaming isn't that good compared to Y540, Omen is good but expensive. Dell G series, XPS 15 & Alienware laptops have one of the worst thermals these days.

There's this HP Pavailion option under 60k:

GPU - Gaming benchmarks
GTX 1650 is like 4x better than MX230, makes a very big difference, even if you don't play games every day.

Don't think that i5 10th gen CPUs are better than 9th gen. All of them perform very similar to each other, infact i5 H & R5 H suffix CPUs are a bit better due to higher power limit.

That GPU is a joke for the price. Brand can't fix performance issues because of crap hardware. Please ask your colleague to NOT give preference to brand over performance.
Dell is overpriced and HP doesn't makes thermally good laptops when compared with Lenovo, Acer and Asus.

I'd say problem with HP is price. The 2019 Pavilion & Omen had a much needed improvement in thermals but considering Y540 goes for 60k on sales, that 59k Pavilion doesn't look worth buying as Y540 is surely built much better & has better thermals. I think Asus FX505, Acer Nitro 5 & HP Pavilion have similar thermals, even Dell G series.
