I am planning to get a laptop from my cousin in US, cud u suggest wat configuration to look out for.. i m not a very high end user.. m not a game freak too.. heard hp laptops are best.. dell laptops service in india isnt that gud.. plz comment asap.. my budget is around 50k

Well when getting from US, most of the time u have to forget warrety unless u pay few extra lousy USD to obtain a Global warrety which includes India...

but 1st of all, whats ur Budget ??

as for a General Guide line Right now...

Min 1 GB but Recomended 2 GB RAM in Dual Channel Mod
atleast X3100 GMA how ever 8400 Mobile will ge gr8

and WIndows Vista Home Primium if u have to go with Paid os, other ways u may opt for model without OS and later install ur FAV Linux

I will suggest you to buy from India only..as price in India is also very cheap.Suggested keeping warrenty issue.

And plz mention the budget.....
Dont worry abt dell service .....they have door to door serice...all you need is to call dell toll free number.But their service is limited to few cities only.

You can even have a demo of Dell laptops at your home before you buy one of them..Just call dell at their toll free number.
