Laptop around 55-58k (except z510)

My friend is going to buy a laptop in 2-3 days....
Budget - 55-58k

Purpose- Programming,designs-CAD n such engineering stuffs + moderate/high gaming (like nfs,watch dogs,tom raider series,assassins creed, etc)

screen size-15.6 (FHD/HD)

He hates the lenovo z510,z50 looks....the y510p is unavailable...he is okay with dual core ULV processors, since the i7 4510U has 2-3.1ghZ speed (turbo boost at single core) n bcoz of long battery life....his choices..

can the ULV processor handle these CPU-intensive games ?? will it hamper any engineering works??

Check the GPU reviews at notebookcheck. Click on the framerate beside each game and you'll see the configuration used - you'll find a wide variety of processors, many of them ULVs. That's how I figured out the performance of the 4200U with the graphics card of my choice.

1) Envy is really overpriced.
2) Look at the Lenovo Z50 series. You may need to go to the showroom for it. (Model: 4042 and above.)

Go for Dell Inspiron 15 3537 @55k with core i7 4500U and AMD 8850M.
Its an awesome laptop for college. Extraordinary battery life(upto 12 hours--->personally tested).
Just the screen quality is not up to the mark as the TN panel is of slightly poor quality.
The AMD GPU will be very good for CAD and this will perform better than Y510p for CAD.
Gaming performance is similar to Lenovo Y510p core i5 version.

dats what i recommended...moreovr its portable,dell service n has long battery life...bt its processr is 4500U with GDDR5 8850M.....whereas,the HP ones with 4510U seems having slightly bettr base speed,but its coupled with GT 840m.......dats what causing the confusion that whether dell 15 3537 can handle cpu intensive games like watchdogs/crysis3/battlefield in high/med settings?? (i'm not xpecting ultra)

AMD 8850M is better than GT 840M.
Haven't tried Watch_Dogs but the other two games run just fine. BF4 @high(40 FPS) and Crysis 3 med-high.

There won't be much difference between 4500U and 4510U.
