Since its not intended for gaming, take a look at this: K43SJ-VX678D: 2nd Generation Core i3, 2 GB RAM, 750 GB HDD, NVIDIA GT520M: 30k: [flipkart.com].

If can extend your budget, and want a more powerful machine: Asus K43SA-VX041D: 2nd Generation Core i7, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB HDD, AMD 6730M: 47k: [flipkart.com].

Both are 14 inch laptops, and don't come with Windows.

Update: This seems to better suit the needs: Acer TimelineX 4830T: Intel 2nd generation Core i3, 2GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, Intel HD 3000 graphics, 14 inch screen (1366x768), W7HB: 34.5k: [flipkart.com]. Timeline series laptops are known for long battery life; 8 hours is promised. Add in another 2GB or 4GB memory stick and you're good to go. Downside is that the battery not user replaceable.

You can also have a look at HP ProBook 4430s

It has lesser battery life than the acer and does not come with pre-installed OS but build quality is very good, and its specs are also slightly better.
