2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?

15" - 16" screen(1080p would be better)


3) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
HD movies,Dota,Maybe watchdogs(when it releases),Photoshop,Browsing

4) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
4th gen i5./4-8 GB RAM/8.1 Windows(or Windows 8 will do)

5) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

This thread is just for me ref,I might be getting it though if my parents agree...The laptop should be really good enough not like cheap acer laptops,My present acer laptop just sucks.
The laptop should be decent enough for gaming(Esp dota),1080P screen would be good,or maybe even 1600x900 would do for me.
Brands I prefer
Lenovo,Dell,HP
Brands I hate
ACER

Backlight keyboard,A good built quality like Lenovo.

2. Yes
3. Built is great. Metal finish.
4. Yes dual JBL speakers

Lol, I don't think 5th gen will arrive until the end of this year.Besides the area of focus on laptop proccys is shifting towards energy efficiency(low TDP), lower heat dissipation and not performance.

The only performance improvements Broadwell(5th gen) promises is in the IGPU area.

2)Broadwell incoming. It will improve performance no matter what. The previous die shrink improved performance massively (Sandy to Ivy) wherein a simple mid range i7(3630QM) beat the sandy bridge extreme chip(2920XM) in terms of performance.

I would suggest you should wait for both.

At all thanks I bought z510,My acer lappy started getting lots of problems after the repair from a local shop sold it got 11k :O and got z510 for 40k + Mouse + and some softwares
