i was thinking that will an amd sempron 2500+ 64 bit give better performance[i use my comp for games, multimedia designing using flash, video encoding,etc] than this present cpu i own

if yes, then which company will be a good option for a motherboard..idont need onboard lan or video

if you are using your comp for gaming and video encoding, i recommend you to buy a better processor. amd semptron 2500+ is better than pentium 3.. but its still low end. I recommend getting atleast amd athlon 2800+ or 3000+.
nowadays you get can good amd motherboards for cheap so i recommend getting a mid-range or high end one. try any rs-480 based motherboard. msirs480m2-il is there in this month's A-list.. try that out.

Dont go for Sempron
Its similar to your Pentium.Infact your processor is faster than sempron.
And also dont forget that AMD sempron processors have heating issues.They may burn at any time.
If u want to upgrade your processor get pentium 4 processors.They will rock you.

Dont go for Sempron

Definitely Sempron is better as it has a 64bit architecture in comparison to Pentium 3 32bit architecture.
Sempron 64 bit is defnitely useful while handling multimedia or number crunching applications.
