Intel on Tuesday confirmed a lingering rumor that they are working on a new set-top box and live internet-based TV service, beating Apple to the punch in the connected television market. In an interview with All ThingsD, Intel Media corporate vice president Eric Huggers confirmed the news, revealing that Intel had hired a number of employees from Netflix, Apple, and Google to work on the project.

Intel's move puts it into competition with heavyweights like Apple, Amazon and Google that believe the $100 billion cable television ecosystem is ripe for change.

They must sign a contract with DishTV, TataSky, Airtel to use Intel boxes, instead of normal setup box.
Maybe then Intel will see some change?
