Hi Forum Members, I need your help.
My System config is:-
1. MSI Mainboard with Intel 845GE ICH4 chipset Model MS-6714 ver 5.0
(845GEM-L)
2. Processor : Intel P-4 2.4 Ghz (133*1
3. RAM : 1) 128 MB DDR(266) * 1
2) 258 MB DDR(not known) * 1
4. HDD : ATA 40 GB
5. BIOS : Award phonix BIOS Ver 7.3 dated 14/04/2004
6. Present OS = Windows XP with out Service Pack (Runs super fine in my
system)
Now the problem is I cannot install/upgrade XP SP1/SP2 in my system.
During Installation sequences are:
1. Compiability check = OK
2. copying required file for installation = OK
3. REstarts system and start XP installation = OK
4. Restarts system with Win XP logo and the system hangs up.
After trying several times with different XP SP2 CD same things happen.
I also tried to solve the problem by replacing the RAM, but in vain.
If any guy have any solution for the said problem please help me.

Are you getting this when updating the OS with SP2 or are you getting it when you are trying to install Windows XP+SP2 ????

In both cases, try a clean install... i.e. Format the Partition and install Windows XP and immediately install SP2 or Format the partition and install Win XP+SP2

just use the method to integrate the SP2 setup in your CD.. then install windows XP again.. it will do.. the problem is coming coz of some drivers corruption..

So if it is that old issue then, See try changing the Hardware now !!! RAM would b the one i would suggest, try chaning with any frnds or any one else's RAM... also Upgrade the BIOS if any update available !!!

Friends,
Clean Install, upgrade, other HDD, fresh XP CD, CMOS clear Data, BIOS to
factory setting, format of HDD every thing has done, but the problem is same.

Only thing is left to replace RAM with new one or from other system.
Another thing is upgradation of BIOs from 7.3 to 7.4.
But BIOS flashing is not possible in my system, becasue my flopy drive is not
working properly. Always MSG appears as "This disk is not formated, Do you
want to format it ?" If I click yes smg appears "this this cannot be formated".
Tell friends any solution. Is BIOS update possible from CD.

Your opinion may be correct. I have already downloaded the latest BIOS. But I am unable to flash the BIOS because there is some problem in my floppy drive. I have contacted with MSI-INDIA Support Centre, they have sugestted me to upgrade the power supply from 250W to above 300w. Now I have arrange the same and have to try.
