Hi,

Which free email services provide support for IMAP? I don't care for POP3, I just want it to support IMAP and it should be free. Any suggestion?

Thanks.

None of the services supporting IMAP are free. :(

OK, I will describe what I actually need. I don't use any email client and I don't want any software to download mails to my computer automatically. I just need a utility that would check my mailbox and alert me if there is any new mail. Once I get an alert, I will login manually to check my mail. Just like it happens while you are logged in yahoo messenger; you get a message "You have 1 new mail" without actually downloading the mail. Something similar that would work with other email addresses. Any such s/w?

OK, I found one.

The GUI looks crude but it does the job well. I tried a couple of others but I liked this one the best. It handles all email addresses, gmail, yahoo etc. Doesn't require POP3, IMAP are any such stuff. Login is done in the background and retrieves only the message headers i.e. the subject. Cool s/w.

Too hot for this forum.
as i wrote b4 sify. cos, in outlook express, the softwr downloads only the headers, and u can then select the mail u need to be downloaded.
