Hi all..

I am planning to buy a new pc. Following are my requirements. My approx budget is 30-35k.. Please suggest a good configuration with company-model no.-price. I go for gaming, programming and multimedia.

AMD 64 X2 processor(choose a speed of your choice which is the best)
[I somehow am not inclined to core 2 duo. Please correct me if it is the better choice on the amd processor. tell me why]

The best motherboard in my price range. [pls specify the model no. and company]

1GB RAM[how much does the 2GB one cost?]

160 GB Hard drive[preferebly sata]

DVD writer[specify which company is better]

Cabinet[specify SMPS power needed for the configuration ]
(* Suggest me on micro atx.. I think it would give more heating. tell me whether it is a better option? they are small and easy to carry around *)

A nice multimedia keyboard and mouse

decent 5.1 ch speaker system(I am a music freak.. I need a better sound )

A UPS [specify how much rating I should take.]

17" lcd monitor [specify a good company. I personally think samsung makes good displays.. Correct me if I am wrong]

and finally a graphic card[optional as the onboard chips are coming decent enough. though quote it even if it exceeds my budget]

Thats all on my list..

Thanks in advance...

The above is exactly the kind of config which is a waste of money but nothing, ere are my views on this config.

A 30-35k budget is not a good noe to get a C2D, If u get C2D, you will be compromising on almost every other component. AMD is a good Idea.

Thanks for the opinions..

Do you think two 512 mb rams are better than a single 1gb ram? and give me some reasons why core2duo is a better choice than amd 64 x2? May be I am stupid to ask this question now.. U can answer as briefly as u can..

Please could anyone suggest a clearer config of an amd based system? and I dont know why.. I didnt like intel too much.. :-? Could anyone give me some reasons why I should go to core2duo above amd.. is it just the brand name or something else?

go 4 AMD since they hav slashed their prices today.u'll get vfm.
2*512 is better than a single 1GB stick only if u can get a dual channel kit else both will be the same.
X2 4400+ and above
Asus M2N-MX or M2NPV-MX
1/2Gb ram preferrably dual channel
a gfx card if u plan to run Vista or run games
Zebronics cabby - 1400
Zebronics Platinum 500w psu - 1875
160GB WD SATAII - 2500
LiteON/SONY/BenQ DVD RW - 1900-2100
Microsoft KBD & Mouse - 800/1100
APC ups
LG/Samsung 17"TFT - 10k

Technomancer
AMD 64 X2 processor - 3800+ for 5400, if price comes down, go for higher model

motherboard - ASUS M2NPV-MX for 4400

1GB RAM - 2x512MB DDR2 RAM for about 4000

160 GB Hard drive[preferebly sata] - SATA2 Seagate for around 2700

DVD writer - Liteon or Sony for 2000

Cabinet - go for Zebronics Antibiotic for 2400

A nice multimedia keyboard and mouse - Logitech MM Keyboard and Optical mouse for 550

decent 5.1 ch speaker system - Creative Inspire 5.1 for 3900

A UPS - Get 600VA UPS from APC or Numeric or any other decent brand... Microtek comes for 2000

17" lcd monitor - not sure which brand is good, but will cost you abt 10000

and finally a graphic card - perhaps PCIe GeForce 7300GS for about 3650

Total Excluding Graphics card: 37350
Total Including Gfx card: 41000

Arun

PS: The LCD Monitor is your costliest item... If you want to get the budget down to 35k, you may think about going for a 17" CRT which can cut your cost by about 4000...
