1) What is your budget? 65000 INR

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
  • Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?

I'll mostly be using this for typing and browsing and I'll be gaming during my free time (AAA titles).

4) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?

8th Gen i5/i7 with at least 8GBs of RAM.

5) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

None in particular.

6) Anything else you would like to say?
  • Screen resolution ( 1080p (Full HD) )
  • Battery back up ( decent enough I guess. )
  • Purchase place ( Online preferably unless it's available locally )

I would highly recommend getting a GTX 1050Ti GPU powered laptop, as it is 25% better than GTX 1050. Moreover, next gen GPUs might launch by the end of this year (so new GPU laptops next year), so better to get a more powerful laptop for futureproofing.

Try to get this if possible:
Asus TUF Core i5 8th Gen - (8 GB/1 TB HDD/128 GB SSD/Windows 10 Home/4 GB Graphics) FX504GE-E4366T Gaming Laptop Rs.74990 Price in India - Buy Asus TUF Core i5 8th Gen - (8 GB/1 TB HDD/128 GB SSD/Windows 10 Home/4 GB Graphics) FX504GE-E4366T Gaming Laptop Black Metal Online - Asus : Flipkart.com

Otherwise get this if you can't extend your budget much:
Asus FX553 Core i7 7th Gen - (8 GB/1 TB HDD/Windows 10/4 GB Graphics) FX553VE-DM318T Gaming Laptop Rs.69990 Price in India - Buy Asus FX553 Core i7 7th Gen - (8 GB/1 TB HDD/Windows 10/4 GB Graphics) FX553VE-DM318T Gaming Laptop Black Online - Asus : Flipkart.com
Adding an SSD to it will bring its price closer to Asus TUF though. The i5 8300H = i7 7700HQ but Asus TUF is newer & has better cooling system.

Also wait till around 16th June as amazon is having prime day, so flipkart might have sales as well. Otherwise flipkart has a gaming friday each friday with deal on some laptops. That Asus FX553 was going for 66k yesterday. During big sale GTX 1050Ti laptops start at 60k (mostly Acer Nitro 5 with i5 7300HQ).

I actually need a laptop before the 18th as I'm leaving home for college. So I'm in a bit of a pickle, I do agree with the Ti version over the non-Ti version though. My budget is pretty tight though, at max I could up like 5K, but that's about it.

Assuming you are going for B.E, BSc or similar UG degree, I'd say, don't take a laptop during initial days. See how the environment there is, how your roommates are & then get a laptop. I bought a decent smartphone & laptop after my first semester although many people started buying it during Durga Puja & Diwali.

Due to the upcoming GPU generation after 6 months & considering your budget, get 1050Ti at least. Better to wait a bit, rather than ending up buying an inferior product which you will use for next 3-4 years at least.

As I said, you can wait for big sales in Flipkart or at least wait for Gaming Fridays. There should be a big sale on or near Aug 15th.

As I said earlier, better to get a good laptop as you will be using it for 3-4 years & you should know if Flipkart will have a big sale or not by next Friday. If not get a laptop on gaming friday deal. Other than that, it's your wish what you do.
