Hello Guys, I have a strange problem with my Laptop. Its a HP DV6000 series laptop.
The drive was replaced with a new one about a year ago. My dad uses the laptop most of the times and he uses the DVD drive extensively.
Here are my initial diagnostics.
1. The DVD drive will eject only on POST.. the drive work only up to the OS (Win7) selection screen.
2. once the OS loads the drive does not work. it will not even Eject(except via the Manual Eject hole provided on the drive). nor does the LED on the drive blink.
3. The drive does not show up in the Device Manager.
4. I tried booting to Ubuntu using a Pen Drive.. here also I see that when the OS is loading the drive doesnot work..
What could be the problem?
