How to remove vista and install XP??

I have a windows vista 32bit installed on my C drive and now i want to remove vista and install windows XP, I inserted the XP SP3 disk and restarted the system, but the boot menu doesnt even appear....i have even set my first boot device as my dvd drive...the screen stays blank while booting and continues to load vista.....what im i supposed to do??.....
this is my config...
core 2 quad Q9300 2.5ghz
Asus p5k WS mobo
4 GB DDR2 800mhz ram
XFX 8800GT 512mb ddr3 gfx card
 
if u have set the boot device priority correctly, then try inserting the xp disk when vista loads. try installing xp by autoplay. if this too doesn't help the cd may have a fault. try using a xp sp2 cd and then installing sp3.

One cant install Windows XP using the Autoplay feature from Windows Vista since Vista is newer version of Windows.

@ cyborg47, U first set the first boot device as CD/DVD. Then u need to press any key (such as enter) during the boot process when the screen stays black. I think this will start the boot from Windows XP CD. Try it.
