How to get a lost folders and files

I don't know how the folder disappeared. May be I have accidentally deleted it or something else. I have searched the whole computer (using search options), and tried recuva software to recover them if I have deleted. But it didn't find the folder/files I am looking for (ignore 1000s of files).

Any idea what could have happened to those files and folders? How I could get them back?

I would really appreciate your help guys.

Was it on your hard disk or external drive ?

Did you try searching through hidden files/folders as by default it's not activated ?

[MENTION=125321]nac[/MENTION]: Goto folder option -> View Tab -> Select "Show Hidden files" also untick "Hide protected operating system files".

Even though If you dont find it, it is a virus which does this

It was on my HDD. Search done with default option.

I searched again after checking hidden files/folders, still can't find.

I really wonder where the hxxx this folder has gone.

After making sure you can view hidden and system files (by amjath's method), install Everything from here: Everything Search Engine

And then try to find it using wildcards. I hope you get them, else they might be Shift Deleted. And if Recuva can't find it even with deep scan, there's not much you can do.

^ Seems like it's gone.
I did what you guys suggested and re-did them. I even recovered the "unknown" files (files with numerical file names), it's not there... :(
I will look into some of my back up DVDs to see if I have back up copy of those folders. This is the last hope to get atleast some of the files. :pray:
