How to Control Your Laptop with the built in iRDA Port

Can anybody tell me if its possible to contol your laptop with the built in irda port and a standard infra red remote contol that you get with TVs or with vcrs?

afaik this is not possible as you dun haf compatible software to detect the remote. but you can do it wid an infra-red enabled cellphone.

Well, yeah, thats part of the problem. Unfortunately, I don't have an IR-DA enabled phone. And I can get the correct software from somewhere, I mean there has to be something out there that enables you to use a standard remote contoller with the built in iR Port.

yeah i'm not conversant wid phones other than sony ericsson phones but using a software called float's mobile agent you can do it! you can find the software for almost all models of SE phones a i think even a couple of nokia phones are supported too.

U can control ur pc using a bluetooth
or an infrared enabled Symbian cellphone.
