Guys could you please tell me how it is that I can add Debian Etch DVD's as repositories to Ubuntu 7.04?

No Techie stuff.. Please explain.... Could I just say addrepositories in Synaptic with the DVD inside my drive? Would the package manager automatically find the repository list on the DVD?

I'll say dont do this as etch is old stuff and will break many packages.instead use repositories from internet.ubuntu feisty is based on debian sid again much updated than debian etch is.it breaks most prolly glibc.you can try ubuntu-backport repo for eg.always stick with ubuntu repos.
apt-cdrom is the command to add cd's.
synaptic too may do this but i am not so sure.

You can do this in GUI too. System> Administration>Software Sources.
Just find a button labelled as "Add Disc"...and you are done. :)

The reason I asked, for strictly DEBIAN ETCH DVD addition in the repositories is because I am a mod on a LUG and we have to install a linux distro on our college PC's. I suggested Ubuntu. But since the PC's dont have net connection I am forced to use Debian Etch DVD's.

then use only Debian Etch.mixing debian & ubuntu mostly breaks libc6 libs.so stick with debian etch.later u can get backports of some packages via internet(debian backports).backports are those new packages build for current Etch by porting from Debian testing or sid.
