How can i fully utilize 19 inch widescreen lcd

I recently purchased a LG 19 inch wide screen lcd ( i do not know the exact model name ,my father brought it) ,and i connected it to my graphics card(GEFORCE 8600 GT ) by DVI-I connectivity (The monitor support both DVI and traditional 15 pin)

However i am not satisfied with the display as leaving some games (like resident evil 4 ) etc other games are looking bigger and even DVD's do not occupy full screen space .

Does wide screen facility depend upon content ,i even tried some LEGAL DVD's ,but they too are showing only in a limited area.

Try adjusting your resolution..

your monitor is a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor, widescreen movies are 16:9 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio, so you will get black bands on the top and bottom of the screen. As far as games are concerned, you have to set flat panel display scaling to fixed aspect ratio.
