I have p4,2.8GHz,256MB RAM,40GB HDD,Windows XP.
My system gets heated up quickly and I am not able to work on it.
Moreover when I play games like Halo and medal of honour my system gets crashed and I have to restart it .
Help me with these problems[/b]

Which mobo are you using? Is your processor a HT? If yes then you have to learn to live with it, HT processors have a tendency to get over heated.
The best you can do is, install an extra cooling fan at your cabinet. If that doesn't help much, look for and buy a cabinet which supports the facility to attach additional cooling fans at the front portion. There are cabinets available which provide space for two additional fans other than the SMPS.

Try applying a fresh layer of thermal paste on ur processor. Also, upgrade ur current cooling fan, with a better quality one.

The heat is probably bcos of dust accumulated on the processor fan. Open your case and clean the mobo fan (if any) and processor fan.

Also make sure none of your components (processor, grafix card, memory etc.) are overclocked. Check this from the BIOS.
