hi.
i have a HP pavilion dv2025 laptop.
i tried to run run recovery discs that i made.
one of the discs got corrupted and now i cant recover my operating system.
so now i dont have any operating system. I can install a new operating system but since my HDD is not partiotioned so i will loose all of my data.....

Is there any way out so that i can make backup of my data...
what solution i thought is of booting my laptop by network.....or other laptop...but i dont know how to do it???

Please suggest something because i dont want to loose my data......

In the zone
you can directly install new o.s on hardisk, but don't format harddisk . during installating it will warn you of previous o.s present, ignore it and continue.
or you can use window live cd created by Bart PE.

@rohit why dont you try booting through a live CD. You can use Ubuntu 7.04. connect a external HDD and copy all data from your HDD to the external drive. Using a Live CD will not alter any data from you HDD.

Either attach an external HDD to your comp. and run any OS from Disc drive and copy data to Ext. HDD or Just reinstall your OS and Burn all your data to DVDs etc. and format your HDD. Hope it helps.

:D Live CDs (not to b confused with boot CDs) are full-fledged OS

but dey run directly off d CDs and do not need to b installed on d HDD

dey will not affect d existing OS on ur HDD

Yeah. And running Linux isn't that difficult. All you have to do is just a data transfer.
