Help!! black screen ?? video problem!!!

Right off the assembly line
hi guys

my pc config is as follows:

intel P4 2.4ghz
intel 845g motherboard
256 mb RAM and 1 gb RAM.

I recently bought a new 1 gb DDR ram and installed it in my pc.
after that when i tried to play video files(avi,wmv) ,most of the time,the screen goes black and no controls are able to use in keyboard and mouse .

after i restart only,it gets back to normal,i cant figure out what the problem is??:?:
btw i have klite pack,VLC,GOM,KM players installed but to no use,the problem persists in all of them.

plz help me solve this problem..it really annoys me..:-(:-(

Do specify Specs of both RAM sticks.

OR

Get rid of the 256MB stick & see if it solves the problem.

Did try with just one RAM (1GB) stick ??

Are you getting any another error/problem ??

How did you playback these files ?? Try in VLC Player, it have internal codecs.
