I use a PC with a P4- 2.4 Ghz Processor/512 MB DDR RAM and a Gigabyte 845 chipset motherboard with 2 IDE connectors.I'm using two HDD's, a 40Gb and a 120GB now.I also use a CD writer.I want to add another hard disk .I wanted to know what is the maximum ATA /IDE HDD size that the 845 chipset board will support.I asked many vendors here in SP Road, Bangalore but got a mixed response. Some said the max it supports is 160GB and a few others said it will support 200GB.Can anyone help me with this?

(if your operating system is using "36 bit LBA" then maximun harddisk size it can detect is 127.4 GB.to detect more than 127.4 GB ,the OS need "48 bit LBA")

new version of sp2 in windowsXP will make your LBA 48 bits, which will support harddisk more than 127.4 G.B

your can make LBA 48 bits also by
download "EnableBigLba.exe" its size is 156 kb and its freeware. run it and it will make LBA 48 bit. reboot.
