Hello everyone,
I'm having an Intel 915GVWB motherboard and a p4 H.T. Processor with 512mB ram.. Im planning to put a Graphics card on board... My board has a PCI x1 slot .. So i would like to know whether an x16 card like Nvidea 7200 will fit into it.. I hope it will do and the dealers say it will because the card has a cutting for fitting into smaller x1 slot..
Next doubt is that mu logitech mouse has died.. so I'm planning for a new one.. the problem is that my new target, also a logitech one at 1000dpi has two versions , a USB and a PS2 one... i have both ports.. so which one should I opt for.. I prefer a USB thinking it will give more sensitivity and speed.. Any advantage of any over the other??
Then also regarding RAM, will an extra 512 do more good for me? Currently 2 DDR1 modules of 256Mb Zion(Hynix) and 400MHz each work in dual channel.. will a 512Mb trancend of same configuration work withhout problems? How much boost will it do to me... I run windows xp and is a power user with lots of eyecandy running...
Last and final, is actually SATA faster than IDE? My opinion from my friends system is that it is slower and makes lots of noise... and does my motherboard support sata2?
Sorry for a long query and thanks in advance....

For Mouse I would suggest PS2... !!! keep a extra USB port free :D

PCI x16 will not just simply fit into ur PCI x1 slot :( its bigger than it !!! you have to find a card with PCI x1 interface, and there are such but I have no idea of their availibility at india :(

This is one PCI x1 Card

and this bellow one is a PCI x16 Card

so u can see for ur self :p they wont fit in :(

yes add more RAM, all Games and OS like Vista would need 2 GB RAM  so u can imagine u need to have more RAM... but yes dual channel is important, how ever in ur case more ram will mean better berfomance over dual channel or try and add a 1 GB if possible

SAT-2 is much faster :D some thing is wrong with ur frnds syustem :( and ur system do not support SATA-II !!! note all SATA-II HDDs are backward compatible meaning u can buy SATA-II which will and can operate as SATA-I interface :D

Free ports is not a problem for me cos I have 8.. Just want to know if USB has any distinct advantage over PS2.. so a say it takes time to recogonize usb mice after a boot..

Then if you check that x16 card you can notice that there is a cutting at the left edge approximately the size of an x1 card.. so are you fully confident that it will never work? Maybe what if the manufacturers want to make it work the other way...

No it will not work!
If it has to work then there is no point in making such a large slot!
Besides, it will not fit in either alternate slot!

The USB mouse is better than PS2 mouse...and if u are worried about the booting problem....wel for first time it will take some time to detect the mouse but if u keep it attached with ur system....it will work smooth as butter!
And also USB mice is having plug and remove option with u always without shutting the system!
