GTA 4: Unable to connect to internet and no support site!

Alright, I now have a computer that can run every game, and today I purchased GTA 4. I installed it completely. In the end, it showed that it will connect to internet to check release date. I clicked next and waited. It jumped from 0% to 30% and then after a few seconds an error: An error occured during the release date check. If you are not connected to internet(I am!!!) then go to the following link to access support website.I tried to open that website( *activate.rockstargames.com/?c=GTA4 ), but I get redirected to a new site that doesn't open!!!:-(

Now, I want to ask if any of you faced similar problems, and how you solved it? Is the help/support site of GTA IV shifted to some other URL?

Try to open that page using a proxy like Hide My Ass! Free Proxy and Privacy Tools - Surf The Web Anonymously
Also, clear your cookies and use OpenDNS.

WOW! It opened! :D May I ask how did it open now, and not before?

Now I will try to activate it offline :D :D

EDIT: So will this also prevent me from playing online(since its not connecting!)?

Now when I try to request unlock code, it shows a screen with HMA Ads(ok,) adn GTA 4 logo and a link to terms of usage. Nothing else! Where is my unlock code and serial now? :O

No mater what serial key or request code I put in, it only shows that page, nothing else happens! :(

But, I used another proxy(something like blewpass) and it worked well. So, I have Unlock key now, Serial key but, still its not working.
- I entered all the details correctly, it showed: "Activation Successful".
- I closed that window, and there was another window which upon closing asked "do you want to cancel date check?"(which was actually completed!).
- I clicked yes. Now, When I am clicking on GTA 4 icon on my desktop(or its target), its showing me again activation failure screen. I again clicked activate manually but nothing happened! :(

I guess I will have to contact Rockstar/take 2 interactives now(that I dont want to do)....
Can't any one help
I really want to play it... :(

All right then.Do the following

Change your DNS to Opendns. And disable your firewall/AV for this procedure.
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Go to your GTA folder and revoke your license(revokelicense.exe)
Then go to manual activation folder, click the .exe and try.

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my "happy shouting", just like tears of happyness!
Thanks a lot!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

I just changed DNS setting, and it automatically connected to internet to check release date BEFORE revoking my license. Although I revoked my license, I re-entered serial key and now "GTA apps" (activator, game etc) are able to access internet!!!

THANK YOU(and ofcourse, those people who helped me too!) HUNDRED TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I have(I guess?) :D

But the game is hanging for about 1/2 a second after every 4-5 seconds of drive of car... I will try it again after lowing some settings tomorrow as its late now...

EDIT: I decided to try it now :D Changing settings to medium, making the game use only about 50% of resources(of graphics card, I guess) didn't work. What could be the issue?

Theoretically it should. However it is a poorly coded game and can throw up many problems.
I take it that you have downloaded all the updates for the game, right?

Internet on my computer is not working fine, so I am unable to login to LIVE. But I have created an offline account(I know that wont update it)!

BTW The game is now running very smooth even at high settings(yaay!). I restarted the computer, went to settings and tried run benchmark(I just wanted to see what it is). It showed my that at high settings game will give me about average 44 fps. Now its working very, VERY smooth!!!

Thanks man! :D :D
