In most games, fx 8350 lags by a few fps than i5, but considering the cost of ownership on fx 8350, no Intel processor cna match it's VFM. In many tasks such as rendering, compression etc, the fx 8350 compares to the i7 3770k which costs 2x the price of FX 8350. And considering the trend in gaming engines, more and more games have started scaling on 4 or more cores.so fx8350 is bettr than i5 and less than i7??

an i5 would be perfect. Gaming is best done on Intel. and during PS/Aftereffects, if a difference of a few miliseconds is not a factor for you, then go for i5. take a K-series if you wanna OC.using it for gaming(at medium setting.) and for photoshop and premiere pro and aftereffects
