I have Dell inspiron B130, that has measly 60GB space, I am tired of backing up GBs of data on DVDs. Finding them in all those DVDs/CDs is very difficult, hence I am thinking of external hard disk.
a) I read somewhere that it is better to buy a internal 2.5" hard disk and cover it with casing than buying a ready made external HDD. Is it true?
b) Which internal HDD (2.5") is better, Hitachi or Westernal Digital? I am looking for 320GB, 5400RPM
c) What is the present cost of either of these two?
d) I am hoping to buy transcend storeget 2.5 , how much would it cost? How does it perform?
e) Assuming I transfer all the data to this external HDD, how can it be indexed for faster search? Can google desktop index files on external drive?
f) Is there any way to protect the data, in case of theft?
