Just sharing experience (HP and amazon )of getting a bad HP pen drive.

I needed a USB 2.0 pen drive for a specific reason. Compact size was required for some aesthetic reasons! Seems SanDisk does not have compact USB 2 pen drives anymore. They only have 3.0

So I opted for HP v222w 32GB USB 2.0 pen drive, from amazon seller Clicktech retail pvt ltd. While HP is not as great as SanDisk it has acceptable quality. The pen drive failed in just a few days of normal usage. I put it to test on Flash Drive tester app. See the result..significant read write errors. I did low level format but that did not help.

Even a simple file copy and compare using free file sync app results into errors. I called HP CC and they said they do not support Pen drives!! They only support laptops and desktops. But I can contact local service centers. When asked which are the centers in pune that support pen drive, they had no answer. They do not keep that info at all with them!

I called a few centers and they also said they do not support pen drive. Then I checked for HP center *support.hp.com/in-en/help/service-center for Accessories and found one in Camp MG Road Pune. I called them, they said they will only support if the product is in stock with them, else they won’t do anything. So you are Raam Bharose. So this pen drive is discarded by me totally. I know seller generally does not have a role to play in warranty but still I decided to inform amazon seller Clicktech retail pvt ltd but they prefer to remain silent.

My SanDisk pen drives even 10 years old, today also work flawlessly. I have given up on aesthetics part now and gone back to my existing SanDisk Pen drive!!

I am just sharing some further updates & interesting experience on this matter. While this pen drive was just for Rs 300 I decided to pursue it further a bit. While local official HP service center denied support, they eventually just wrote back on WA to contact the seller. This was good evidence of sort of service denial.

I showed it to amazon and eventually an agent on chat opened a ticket to review if refund can be processed. He gave me a ticket number on chat, which I took screenshot and saved. Seller Clicktech retail pvt ltd never responded to any of my messages at all as if they simply do not care.

After a few days I did not hear anything from amazon, so I contacted an agent on chat. He said he does not see any ticket number in the system. So I requested for a call back and the amazon executive who called me actually said that I have been sort of fooled by the earlier chat agent, there’s no ticket opened against that order! I showed him the screenshot with ticket number, but he reconfirmed that there’s no ticket at all. That agent just gave me a fake number on chat and did nothing in their system. This was quite astonishing. I suspect the matter was beyond the authority of that agent, but instead of taking it up further with his seniors he found solace in faking some action taken on the chat.

Then I explained my case again in detail with this executive on phone. Finally he understood it well and then he spoke with his seniors and amazon agreed for refund beyond the return date as HP did not provide the required support. I got it finally on my card.

However, I suggest be careful while buying HP accessories and take caution while buying from Clicktech retail Pvt Ltd. There are significant negative reviews about this seller. Some users have raised a concern that they received fake and used products. Sadly, I guess this is one of the largest sellers on amazon and earlier Appario was I guess sold to this entity.
