Erasable DVDs are rare, erasable CDs are even rarer. These erasable DVD/CD also have a limited life scan(aka you can't use them as pen drives, maybe 4-5 erases & rewrites). Check by burning a typical write-once blank cd/dvd.

Try...
Burning at the slowest possible speeds
Use different apps like BurnAwareFree, Nero Trial etc. Also try windows built-in burner
Use different media like CD-R,DVD-R,DVD RW
CD lens cleaner kit if you have one
Check if manufacturer has any utilities to check the DVD writer
Run VSO Inspector to check what it reports (this is just informative)
Check if there are any firmware updates and try to update
Is it internal or external drive? If external USB, it might probably be suffering from being under powered during burning operation.
How old is the drive and the DVD RW media in question?

If it still reports errors during write, may be it's time to replace the dvd writer

Writable drives have 2 lasers, one for reading, another for writing. Erasing is a type of writing. That laser or its controller has failed.

Your drive seems to be a laptop or laptop-style slim drive on seeing the tech specs. Is it in a laptop?

Regardless of the type, as ramussons mentioned, the laser in the dvd writer has a finite lifetime - say they rate MTBF just like for hard drives, in the range of 50000 hours or so. The best option would be to replace the burner, if at all possible.
