dvd not running

i bought a dvd but when i played on my lg combo ,the drive shows nothing.my dvd region is not set to any region.i get back to the vendor from where i bought it ,he ran it perfectly on his dvd player.why is it happenning so!

I think LG drives come with region lock ... one of my friends had a similar prob but I could run the DVD perfectly on my LITEON drive

the main problem is that the drive is not identifying the disk.altough
i have dvd genie,but i am afraid of using it as i have never done region change.drive properties shoes that changes remaining is 5 and current region is not selected.if i use dvd genie and changes the region if suppose for5 times,i fear the drive might gets lock.
