Although I don't like Linux, but I support those who want to use it, & this is the big news

ID has released the Linux version of Doom3, since it is OpenGL Powered it can run on all plateform, Linux Mac or Windows, unlike DirecrX which runs only on Windows

Anandtech has done a review comparing Windows & Linux version of Doom3, with both nvidia & ati drivers, Nvidia runs it fine on Linux while ATI is very badly supported, too bad

Those who use linux, rejoice, the game is here, starting a new era of Linux gaming

------------------------------

Did I still here someone saying that OpenGL is dead for gaming, & ATI rocks & they don't need to support OpenGL as there are only a few games in OpenGL

Right cheekoo, all linux geeks from ur class will DOOM now... like they did with Windows version in lab last month...

@Saurav, Doom3 for tux is OpenGL... and ur saying it will run on Mac, Win and Tux...?

means?

Does it means the Doom3 I download for Linux will also run on Mac and Win.... how!!!???

I'm confused.

There is no gaming section here, else I would have posted it there, it's not a software news, so I posted here, gaming news

As U guys read in the Article on Anandtech, ATI card do not support Doom3 on linux, cos they have bad drivers for Linux & even bad OpenGL performance, so those having Linux & ATI cards are out of luck anyway

Since it is made in OpenGL, it can run on Mac, Windows, & Linux all, but for Windows they have to compile it according to windows (doom3.exe) while for mac & Linux they have to compile or make something eles as they don't support .exe files,

hey Linux Guys, what do Linux has for Application Launch .exe or something else

UNIX systems in general have file permissions like [ -rwxr-xr-x ]
that "x" means that file is executable... extensions dont matter anything and are just used for convenience and sorting of files.... and that means you can execute a file ending with .txt extension also...
