Does AMD 64 2800+ support linux?

I heard that Amd supports only windows XP Is that true. If not what other os does it support. If it support Linux will the performance be the same as windows XP.

all the applications now we use are 32 bit . future softwares will be released in 64 bit platform .... so if u can afford to buy a amd 64 fx based system go for it.its really worth for money!!

Dude not only that Linux supports AMD64, it supports full 64Bit operation In Linux (whereas in XP it has to run in 32bit mode)
