This is my second build request in the forum.
I need to make cheap strictly office use system requirement for my dad's office.
Primary work profile would be to track order, stock and delivery details on Excels and Billing softwares.
I was checking about the Pi based system. Is the Pi 400 available in India and under good price? Any other similar all in one system will do.
Also system based on Intel or AMD cheap parts would do for the use case.
Update: It has been recommended to look for proper PC instead of Pi based systems. I am no longer upto date with latest CPU and other parts offering in current market. Kindly suggest a cheap entry level system.
PC Build Questionnaire Template
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans: Office work. Excels and billing software. Rare multimedia use so based multimedia capability is sufficient.
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: 15K max. Can manage till 20K if it actually make significant impact.
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Linux (Pi) /Windows (Intel/AMD)
5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: I have a 250gb HDD somewhere at home for use with Intel/AMD. For Pi memory card is enough.
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: Yes, smaller 720p is good. Not sure if 1080p are available in my budget (12-13" is ok)
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Have Keyboard and Mouse. One 250GB HDD was at home but have to search it. Other than that need to buy everything else.
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: As early as possible, but can wait till end of Feb or 1st week of march.
9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes, have experience in assembling system but last done over 5 years back.
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Noida-Greater Noida. Online is desirable.
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: 8GB ram is favorable, 4gb ram feels too slow with excels these days. I would be sourcing parts online unless part is not available.
