Yikes, I did some research and it's quite a step down from the DDR5 version. Spoke to the computer shop and he's willing to exchange it. The DDR5 will come next week for 1k more but he has a 1050ti for 13k. I know I said I didn't want to spend that much but screw it, YOLO, right? 
In a way, it's good I bought this first . Since CSGO and the Heaven benchmark software work (the latter quite poorly, I admit), I'm convinced it was a graphics card problem. If it hadn't and I had gone for the 1050ti, I'd have really regretted it.
