Hello friends!

I have a Sony DSC-P200 Digital camera. Whenever I transfer the images from the camera to my PC, they are numbered something like dscxxxx.jpg, xxxx being the picture number. I need a software that has a batch rename facility, some thing with which I can give one command, say for example I want to rename all files from dscxxxx.jpg to picturexxxx.jpg. Can someone help me with this.

Secondly, I marked that whenever I open the files in Adobe Photoshop, the pictures seem be a bit more yellowish than it actually is. This happens only in Photoshop and after editing when I save the file and open it in some other software, it is normal there. Then why does it look more yellowish in Photoshop...

Thankyou.

Yes, its normal with all other software except for Photoshop. I even tried different versions of Photoshop, but it was the same problem with all of them...

Thanks dgifriend! Irfanview was the one I opted as it was quiote simple...

A few more doubts...

1. Which is the best software to make automatic slide show VCD of multiple pictures with transiction effects in between. The output quality ofcourse shouldn't degrade.

2. Apart from this, which software can resize multiple pictures at a go...

3. I have taken a few pictures in the fine mode from my digital camera. Now after resizing then in Photoshop, when I give the save command and choose JPEG as the format, it asks for the quality. I marked that the best quality ranges from 8-10 and there is a good difference in the picture size in that of 8 and 10. I dont want to compromise with the quality, but when I saved the same picture in both 8 and 10, I could hardly make a difference. Is there really a difference and will it be visible in the printouts.

U can rename the files just by selectin them all and then renaming a file all the files will be renamed accordingly. This will work in XP

@1. Which is the best software to make automatic slide show ?
you can make slide show or screen saver for computer, by mostly all video editing software.
use ACDSee "fotoAngelo" or any video editting software.
remember vcd resloution is 352*288, so if you make slide show for VCD ,you photo resolution will be reduced to 352*388, that will degrade its quality. (its ok to watch on T.V. but not on computer). you can use ulead video studio, cyberlink power director etc.

@2.Apart from this, which software can resize multiple pictures at a go...?
in "ifran view" .select batch conversion- use advance option-set advance option-resize

@3. (8 -10.) Is there really a difference and will it be visible in the printouts?
8-10 range will not make any visiable or print difference.it will only increase file size.just accept default quality, when you try to save picture.

Thanks guys! I got the batch resizing & batch renaming feature in IrfanView.

By the way, for resizing a picture, which is a better software as per quality, Adobe Photohop or IrfanView. As for the filesize, when I resized a file to 1024x764 with maximum(10) as the quality setting in Photoshop, it turned out to be about 400 KB where as the same turned out to be 150 KB in IrfanView. When zoomed to about 300%, quality of Photoshop was better than that of IrfanView.

Incase if there is any other software better than these two, please let me know...
