Diff between 50 Hz and 60 Hz TV

What's the difference between 50 Hz and 60 Hz refresh rate for TV ?Which is good ? And why ?

I haven't seen any TV from any major brand in India that supports only 50Hz & not 60Hz.Here see this:
Sony R30D / R35D TV

1080/24p (HDMI™ only), 1080/60i, 1080/60p (HDMI™ / Component), 1080/50i, 1080/50p (HDMI™ / Component), 480/60i, 480/60p, 576/50i, 576/50p, 720/60p, 576/50p, 1080/30p (HDMI™ only), 720/30p (HDMI™ only), 720/24p (HDMI™ only)

Even one of the cheapest Sony TV supports both 50Hz & 60Hz.

If you want to use manual refresh rates than that is an entirely different area altogether & you should probably leave it as it is for automatic settings in TV/software.
