Hi all,

I'm planning to purchase a new laptop and currently deciding between the "Dell Inspiron Plus 7501" and "New Dell Inspiron 5515". Following is a brief description of their specifications:

Inspiron 15 Plus 7501:
10th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-10750H
NVIDIA® GeForce GTX® 1650 Ti 4GB GDDR6
16GB (8GB onboard + 8GBx1 SODIMM), DDR4, 2933MHz
1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) LED-Backlit Touch Narrow Border WVA Display
3.86 lbs (~1.75 kg)

New Dell Inspiron 5515:
AMD Ryzen™ 7 5700U 8-core/16-thread Mobile Processor with Radeon™ Graphics
AMD Radeon™ Graphics with shared graphics memory
16GB, 8GBx2, DDR4, 3200MHz
1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-Glare LED Backlight Touch Narrow Border WVA Display
3.62 lbs

Budget is not a constraint (both are anyway similar prices laptops). I just want to understand which laptop is better in terms of specifications. Both appear to be similarly powered to me, but I cant decide between Intel/AMD, Nvidia/Radeon. Thanks in advance!

Hi, while I think my question is a bit specific to just those 2 laptops, I'll fill the questionnaire regardless:

1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
Not relevant - only deciding between Dell Inspiron 7501 and 5515

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen, but as light as possible

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
Microsoft Office, Gaming, Browsing, Video/Movie viewing, Multi-tasking, some photoshop (no heavy editing)

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
Just deciding between Dell Inspiron 7501 and 5515. Looking for top-end CPU/GPU, 16+ GB RAM, ~1 TB storage

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: Dell
b. Dislike:

6) Anything else you would like to say?
None

Thanks again for taking out the time to respond!

Regards,
Chinmaya

You want to waste 85k for a Dell laptop with just a 1650Ti and a 60HJz screen while there are much better spec'd laptops available from other brands at same or lower price?

Thanks for the response! Ah, you make a solid argument. What other better spec'd laptops are available at the same price with a similar weight profile, and also aren't aesthetically inferior? I don't have a dislike for any particular brand.

Also, what would be your pick between the laptops I posted about (Dell Inspiron 7501 vs 5515)?

Thanks again,
Chinmaya

The 7000 model with 1650Ti is obviously better for gaming because of dGPU, but there are definitely better laptops available as Dell's high performance laptops are bad & overpriced. This is coming from an Alienware customer, mind you. I won't recommend high performance Dell laptops.

Generally, HP Omen at 80k with R5 4600H + 1660Ti is a good choice but these days out of stock or priced at 90k+.

Then there's new Asus ROG G15 with R5 5600H + RTX 3050Ti at 93k, decent enough IMO:
ASUS ROG Strix G15 Ryzen 5 Hexa Core 5600H - (16 GB/512 GB SSD/Windows 10 Home/4 GB Graphics/NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti/144 Hz) G513QE-HN115T Gaming Laptop Rs.110990 Price in India - Buy ASUS ROG Strix G15 Ryzen 5 Hexa Core 5600H - (16 GB/512 GB SSD/Windows 10 Home/4 GB Graphics/NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti/144 Hz) G513QE-HN115T Gaming Laptop Eclipse Gray Online - ASUS : Flipkart.com
It has a better CPU than both the laptops you mentioned, not huge difference, still bit better. GPU is a huge jump from 1650Ti & thermals will be much better as well.
