Need to upgrade CPU and mobo for my cousin.

i thought of this :-

Gigabyte B450 Gaming X + Ryzen 5 3400G

Purpose : Statistical software+python+anaconda distribution+R programming +Force 2+Minitab+ light gaming @1080p.

Budget 20k

He already has 2400 Mhz C vengeance DDR 4 RAM, Benq 20" Monitor, Antech VP450 w. Previously running Pentium G4560 and Giga B250M D3h

Like to know what is the max resolution supported by 3400G from HDMI and Display Port in case he wants to buy a 144 Hz Monitor?

Ryzen 3rd gen needs new BIOS for B450 mobos, so ask vendor about that. AsRock B450 Pro4 & Asus TUF B450 are considered good B450 mobos.

Performance difference between 2400G & 3400G is like 10%, so better to get R5 2400G if you can find it for 10k. Its iGPU should work fine till 4K 60fps, so 1080p 144Hz should work, but for gaming, it's a bad CPU. Even cheaper R3 3100 outperforms R5 3400G if both are paired with same dedicated GPU.

DDR4 2400MHz is a slow RAM considering Ryzen performance scales well with RAM freq, but beyond 3600MHz or 3200MHz, its point of diminishing returns.

B450M Pro gaming is mATX form factor, which is smaller than ATX form factor of B450 Plus. First one is just more compact, but you aren't missing anything major. Get whichever is cheaper, you will be fine.

No similar board in this price range, next best options starts ~10k.

If you go for an ASRock board, don't expect a fancy UI for BIOS/UEFI. It will be functional, but not fancy like Asus, Gigabyte and MSI tend to have.

No Indian list if that's what you mean, there are known tier lists for amd mobos. You can check this list &decide for yourself based on Indian prices:

That Asrock is not available..

MSI after sales service is what holding me back

also for containment zone things are not deliverable now. So will buy from MD/VEDANT

but how is Aorus Pro (& WiFi) really?
