Copying slows down system

while copying anything from the CD or DVD, my computer slows down heavily. It started happening after i recently formatted my computer. I have P4 1.9GHz, 1GB RAM, Win XP Home Edition with SP2, ZAP, NAV 2005, LG Combo Drive. Like while listening to songs, they become very very slow. Any suggestions r fix for the problem???

Try turning on DMA. Right click my computer->manage.
Go to device manager. double click IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. double click primary IDE channel. go to the advanced tab. Select the transfer mode as "DMA if available for both device0 and device1. Repeat the steps for secondary IDE channel.

Agreed...

also if ur system AVS Real time protection is no... thenn ur AVS will scan all the copying files b4 they can b writen on HDD... so if posseble then turn off the Real time protection.... bware do it only when u a sure that no harmfull files r in the CD/DVD.... otherways u might going to have a curroption.....

lol.. yes... but u know... expectetion is as high as sky... u will always want ur system to perform better... so yes may b one's system is running fast but he would want faster performance... & also this post might help others too...

Swetanshu did u install xp home from a slipstreamed cd coz I also am facing some what little slowdowns sometimes while operating my pc, dunno why is this happening but still it is happening :)

I am also planning to install xp pro with slip streamed, But now it seems i have to wait and see...

or reinstall any SP,
