Isn't ASUS P5 KPL a better mobo

1) gigabit ethernet (945 has 10/100)
2) DDR2800 support (945 has 667 max)
3) 1333Mhz FSB (945 has 1066Mhz)
4) GMA 3100 onboard graphics (945 has GMA 950)

All this for just another 500 bucks more.

Moreover, I don't think you need to buy a PSU worth 1.2k for this basic config. A mercury cabinet worth 1.2k that comes with 400W PSU is more than enough.

Processor: E2160 (around 2.5k)
Mobo: ASUS P5k PL or Intel DG31PR (around 3.5k)
RAM: 1gig DDR2 800Mhz (Rs. 1100)
HDD: 250gig sata2 seagate or Western Digital : Rs.2,200
Mercury cabinet with SMPS: 1.2k
Logitech/MS keyboard and mouse: Rs.700
Samsung/Sony DVD writer: Rs.1200

Price for this: 12,400 approx.
Display, speakers and UPS: your choice.

btw, if you never ever assembled a system before, better get it assembled at the dealer's store. In bangalore, this is done for free at SP Road. Watch and then you can do further R&D. Do NOT try it on your own if you have no idea how to do it.

20k config:

1) E7200 Rs. 5.5k
2) INTEL DG33FB: Rs.5.5k

Rest is the same.

and certainly not a pentium D proccy. If you are assembling on your own, then keep in mind that while putting the proccy onto the mobo, you do not get wrong. Other than these all assembling is easy.
And certainly it would be good if you get this done and from the shop and see how are they doing the setup. Rest is easy.

First time I had tried doing on my own it had gone a little wrong and so the system was not booting (had used the steps given in chart in the mobo box).

Bond, Desi Bond!
the real problem lies in connecting the front panel to the mobo. I misconnected front panel USB once to the mobo and that fried my mp3 player (as power and earth were reversed). Fortunately, got it replaced without any problem :)
