config for 10k

hi
i bought an assembled PC about 3 yrs back... since last 1 yr i have been facing repeated problems of the PC crashing. i had bought a AMD Athlon 3800+ processor with a Asus M2N MX mobo and Zion 512x2 DDR2 RAM. now the local comp repair guy tells me its better to upgrade rather than repairing every few weeks/months. he also tells me that going for AMD is not advisable since the repair is not feasible (thats one prob with my PC he tells me... he had to change the processor fan but could find only a second hand one)
So can you tell me a config for 10k consisting of intel processor, mobo (would intel be better or other brand?), RAM (2GB), SMPS and case.. i already have HDD.
Place of purchase : MUMBAI

Re: Budget 12-15K just for mobo,CPU,RAM,HDD,SMPS

@soumyajit, regarding AMD your comp guy is bluffing, moreover within 10k no good intel config is there, plus below 7k segment of processors AMD rocks..for suggestion make your own thread and fill the questionnaire..we cam guide you properly then!!

AMD Athlon X3 330 @ 3300
M4A78LT-M LE @ 2700
2GB DDR3 Kingston/Corsair 1333Mhz RAM @ 1200
Local cabinet @ 800
FSP Saga II 400w @ 2000

No Intel config will perform close to this in your budget and you can ignore what your computer repair guy tells you.

The PC is refusing to start up after every few weeks/month... the RAM needs to be removed, cleaned and reinserted... as of now, the PC is showing only 384MB RAM (out of the 1GB connected to it).
then there was the problem of the PC hanging/not starting when i was connecting my 500GB hard disc... working fine when the hard disc was not connected (windows installed on 160GB hard disc).
third problem... processor fan went duff... during the repair of this the comp guy told me that it was advisable not to go for AMD ... since it was almost impossible to get spares for repairs (read : new fan for processor)... and this in Mumbai... with the fabled resources of Lamington Road ... finally had to do with a second hand fan+heat sink...

thanks for the info. i have a few more queries...

1. Can you tell me why the PC is giving these troubles? is it bcoz of faulty motherboard or processor or RAM?

2. can i add another 2GB RAM to the configuration? will it improve the performance further?

3. i already have a CPU (mercury cabinet) with a SMPS. should i use that or should i go for a new cabinet with power supply? if i dont go for a new case+smps i can utilize the additional 3k for a higher version of motherboard+processor.

4. if i go for a new cabinet, how much would a used CPU sell for? (minus the hard disc) is there any logic in trying to find a buyer or should i just chuck it/donate it?

5. does this configuration support USB3?

regards

* No, the old cabinet and smps are not worth keeping. Get a FSP SAGA II 350W for 1.5k and a Zebronics, I-Ball cabinet for another 1k.
* If that OLD rig is of no use, then u can sell it of.
Post the config of ur old PC in the Bazaar section for sale.

I believe that all those problems are most probably caused by a faulty motherboard. Its not worth adding more RAM. Try to sell the config in the bazaar section as suggested above IF you can get the motherboard repaired (or you can sell the parts individually). The PC with the repaired motherboard should sell for 2-4k.
