it might be the boot error beeping, reset the bios if u know how to do it & check for some loose connection .
Check ram, graphic card, etc
& if its old comp then ensure that the haetsink is clear of dust & the power supply is good enough to supply proper current to the system.

I had a similar problem. These type of problems occur when the ram modules r faulty or mismatch or have different artitecture.Go get ur ram modules checked one at a time on another computer.

the above post frm shyamno is for my computer , i was facing the problem yest'r day, i told him to post here bec, my comp was not starting on that time, thn after some time whn I start my comp it suddenly started normally and till thn it is ok, it happened once in last wk, ie not starting thn again it get normal, is it due to fault in motherboard or ram or OS, or it is a case of lose connection, my comp is about 1.5 yr old.

chk ur mobo brother - I have faced tht kind a prob in my board.
do U really think that it is the mother board problem, till thn my pc is running well, if it is so thn how can it recover itself?
by the way if it is mobo problem thn howmuch time will intel take to replace it, i stay in kolkata and how will i send the mobo there. my mobo is intel D101GGC, arround 1yr old

do some job - plug out then in all the connection on board (i.e hdd, smps, ram) then start the comp, if it make any noise then try to test with another ram, if it won't work with other ram then surely it's ur mobo.

plz explain clearly I dont understand what u says in the above lines, should i keep the current ram onthe mobo first thn start the comp, or directly test with other ram?

i too am facing a shutdown prob. ever since i installed win server2k3, many time when i try to shutdown, it simply restarts rather than shutdown. i've installed the lastest sp2 and also the security updates

sorry bro. I was not able to reply in time - hope ur prob. already solved.
If not re-plug ur parts with mobo & try, if won't work then try with another RAM.
still I think it's the mobo prob.
all the best
