Compaq Presario V6500 Battery problem

My father had bought a 2nd hand compaq presario for his office use ,
the conditions are excellent , even the mouse pad is in stock condition ( NO faded color) .
but when I charged it 100 % ,under 10mins it's battery icon displayed that the battery is 5 % remaining,
with a message " reconsider replacing battery"..
What should I do ?

Certainly you need to change your battery. However, before buying new battery, try to do battery calibration once or twice, it means, charge laptop to 100% and then discharge it completely . See if feature is there in your BIOS. After 1-2 calibration , see if battery life gets batter.. though if it lasts for 20 minutes, after calibration it may last for 30-35 minutes .
