Cannot install xp sp3 (not troubleshoot)

When I try to install the service pack 3 for xp, an error message pops out saying that the kernel used to boot the computer is not of windows/Microsoft and then the update quits, the problem is, I used mandriva Linux live cd once. But it also didn’t workout for some reason. My question is that, how can I install the service pack on my pc? Does this mean that I have to re-install xp?:D

  • Just Repair your xp sp2 using recovery console..
  • and then install sp3....

(if you have problem about using recovery console, do the following)

  • insert your windows xp cd.(sp2)
  • go to run>cmd>sfc /scannow..
  • reboot the system. then install sp3...

^^ That may work. Heres another solution:

Go to device manager, under computer, whatever you have, right click, update driver, let it scan, and select your same driver once again. That should reset the windows kernel. then reboot, and install sp3.
