hi i want all of your suggestions to solve this family problem .

I live in a joint faily with many family members . I have my own personal computer , but because of these huge number of family members , my PC is not very personal for me . well u can say that make it under password so that u can only do , but the main problem is that as the r my near & dear ones , I cannot say no to them .

So what I did , I removed windows from my PC , and installed uBuntu linux in my PC . but fact is that sometimes I need windows tooo........so is it possible that somehow I can install windows XP ...but others cannot see/discover only I can use it ? for all others only linux will appear ??

Yep, its possible. You will need to make two primary partitions and install both operating systems.

Than install a Boot Loader like XOSL and activate windows when needed

Why not install windows and create a user account for yourself with password... You can keep your personal stuff in your "My Documents" and make it not accessible to others... Or, if you dont want others to use computer much, give them guest priviledge user account...
