1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Mostly to learn CAD (Solidworks 2012, Catia, AutoCAD) occasionally CRYSIS 3 (when it comes)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 1.25lac. max 1.7lac

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: yes

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: windows 7 or 8 (confused on this)

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 250 gb for Cad and another 500gb or higher for gaming

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Atleast 23” 2560*1768 with display port, atmost 30k (3d if possible)

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: keyboard , mouse and speakers

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: last week of February, latest by march 1st week

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: This will be my first time but I will have guidance.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: I’m in Bangalore. If prices are lower than online shops I will buy locally.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: i want to have two gpus one quadro and one gtx and two hdds one having quadro driver and cad softwares and another having gtx driver and games.

I will be switching hdds and gpus (just remove their power supply and reconnect when required) to switch between cad and gaming
A modular PSU is needed for the above condition

The other requirements

Processor : Intel Core i7 3770k
Motherboard : Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe
CPU Cooler : Corsair Hydro H100
PSU : Suitable power rating and MODULAR
RAM : 8 GB (atleast 2000MHz) to begin with, but will upgrade in a year to 32 gb
HDD : as mentioned above
Cabinet : should fit the hydro h100, transparent side panel, easy removal of side panel, washable removable air filter, bottom mounted psu
UPS : A UPS that can sustain this load for atleast 45mins
Optical Drive : not interested in blu ray

please give first preference to the CAD part of the system then consider the gaming gpu and HDD as upgrades all within the mentioned budget.

Thank you in Advance

workstation graphics??? Are you totally into this CAD and all?? If not then it is not recommended....

also such expensive RAM is not required. Get sth cheaper like RipjawsX.

Add remaining amount for a good Blu ray drive....

CAD tools should be highly multi core optimised, no? if yes, the OP should have FX8300 as an option.

Arey i was talking about GPU. Anyways i7 will perform better than 8350 ( only pure performance point of view)

I7 3770k (20000)
asus maximus v formula (21000)
gskil sniper 4 GB x2 (1700x2)
corsair hx750 (8000)
seagate barracuda 2 TB (6000)
ocz 120 GB ssd (6000)
corsair h40 (3500)
cooler master scout 2 (6000)
gtx 680 (34000)
any wireless combo (3000)
optical drive (1000)

total : 111900

let someone else suggest the monitor.

Intel will perform better but AMD is VFM so you can have a look at this

AMD FX 8350 ~12000
ASUS CROSSHAIR V FORMULA ~17000
G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) PC RAM (F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL) - G.Skill: Flipkart.com X2 ~6100
CORSAIR SMPS TX750-V2 M ~7600
Seagate Barracuda 2 TB Desktop Internal Hard Drive (ST2000DM001) - Seagate: Flipkart.com ~6000
Kingston SSDNow V100 64 GB SSD Internal Hard Drive (SV100S2/64G) - Kingston: Flipkart.com ~3600
ocz 120 GB ssd ~6000
CM Hyper 212 EVO ~2200
CM HAF 912 COMBAT ~4400
GTX 680 ~34000
Optical drive ~1000

Total < 1 lac

Leaves more than enough for monitor+Mouse+KB+UPS

at his budget he should get a blu ray...

my suggesations

Wd black 1TB or 2TB
128 GB ssd
crosair 400r or 500r cabinet
16 GB ram (2*8 GB)
3*dell s2240l multimonitor setup or 1*3d monitor (sth like BenQ XL2450ST) or 3* 3d monitors (will tend to reach your higher side...)
that should do....

for 3d monitor get a 680 or 670....

Can u lower the total but keep the proc n cpu cooler.
will the Cooler Master CM Storm Stryker fit the hydro h100?
please add a gtx.
Why not the quadro 2000?
Won't the Maximus V Formula be a trouble SLIng?

Please consider the edits. I missed out a few important things.

But, I'm an intel fan and also i'm conscious about my power bills.

Not all CAD softwares are multi core optimised

Yeah i am really into CAD.

I don't think i'll be buying blu ray disks. I'll consider that an upgrade due for another year.

You can lower budget by getting cheaper RAM ( sth like ripjawsX )....

for GPU 660 will do good but dont expect to run them in SLI

also do you think AMD manufactures air conditioners??

Guys i am now sure on these things.
CPU : Intel Core i7 3770k
CPU Cooler : Corsair Hydro H100
An Asus Z77 board
i liked the Coolermaster CM Storm Stryker Cabinet (Seriously, it looks bloody hell awesome :-o ) but are there cheaper solutions?

I need two HDDs a 250gb is enough for CAD and another 500 GB or higher for Gaming

also do you think AMD manufactures air conditioners??

Haha :-D no. But i guess i'm better off with intel processors for now.

for storage i suggest a good SSD and a HDD

get a 128||240GB ssd for OS and CAD and a WD green 1TB for your games.......

anyway how does this quadro + gtx system work??

the system will have all the components installed and i will connect the power supply from the modular psu to only those components that are needed for the task at hand.

For example, if i want to cad i will connect the power connectors of the quadro and the hdd having its driver while disconnecting the power connectors of the gtx and the hdd with its driver.

Please note that the interfaces will still be connected. Still finding answers if this system will not damage the components.

the reason i kept the quadro 4000 was that it can play all the recent games with everything on full will give decent fps and its a monster in graphic oriented softwares....the 2000 version would mean lower fps

the maximus v formula is a monstrous board its good for advanced overclocking and sli will be a matter of putting another card...but quadro sli is not a decent idea.....for the law of diminishing returns

the cm storm stryker is capable for customized liquid cooling,,h100 will be easy......i would recommend you to wait for the h100i to come out...it has better fans for the same price you get a little better performance

for cad you don't really need a quadro or a discrete gpu....a friend has a 25k laptop with integrated graphics and yes it works great in it............for gaming you need a gpu....i would suggest one powerful single gpu instead of two cards...

if you want a cheaper case then even a 500r would fit the cooler your after at the half the price

i personally use an amd and i don't think the ebill is huge so that's not a deciding factor...the budget you have is suitable for a quality intel rig but amd is vfm all the way plus i have practically seen the fx8350 come very close to the $1000 3960x........

the idea your talking about is not good imo its better not to fiddle to much with these things but its your decision (swapping cards)

Processor : Intel Core i7 3770k - Rs 19,000
Motherboard : Asus Maximus V Formula - Rs 21,500
RAM : G.Skill Trident X 2400fsb 2*8gb - Rs 13,000
HDD : WD 250gb + 1tb - Rs 2400 + Rs 3800 (500 gb is 3000 its better to spend 800 more for 1tb)
CPU Cooler : Corsair h100 - Rs 6,800
Cabinet : Corsair 500r - Rs 6,000
Graphics Card - gtx670 - Rs 26,000
PSU - Corsair AX 750 - Rs 10,000
Monitor - Dell Alienware AW2310 23" 3D - Rs 24,000
UPS - APC 1.1 KVA - Rs 4,500
OPD - Asus 24x - Rs 1,000

TOTAL - Rs1,38,000 if you add another 6 to this you would get a 680 which is great

you can the change the mobo to maximus gene that costs around the 15k mark

the ram is also something you can go cheap with....you can save around 6-7k from it

the gpu you can go for a 7950 vapour ex at 20400 if oc'ed its better than a 670 but thats where 680 is to begin with

if you really need 3d then you can also look at the lg model retails for around 15 and is passive 3d......if you don't need 3d then go with something cheaper at 10-12

just don't change the psu

draco21

^^

totally true.....
680 can handle those cad's alright , and i wont do such things with my PC....

but if you still decide to do then go with 2000 and 660....

Quadro can play games??? then i'l take that otherwise i'm better off with 680.

This config looks good. i'l cut on the ram and upgrade it later, i'l take a velociraptor for the cad hdd, and rest all same.

that is awesome :clap2: :wow:

the cm storm stryker or the corsair 500r don't say that they support e-atx boards. Are you sure the maximus v formula will fit in them ? How about NZXT Phantom ?
