Seagate SATA2 250 GB Hard Disk

Go for a ViewSonic 19" LCD. They come under 10k and there is hardly a difference betwen the prices of the 17" and 19" models. There isnt any E6620 processor, you probably meant E6420.

I Intel DG965RY does not allow any overclocking. And since you are using a dedicated graphics card, you should better opt for a nvidia 650i Ultra based mobo. The rest of the system seems good enough but make sure to get atleast a 500 watt SMPS.

1. Intel P965 based or Nvidia 650i based motherboard. If you are planning to spend a little more then I recommend the 680i SLi LT based motherboard.
2. The 8800 GTS 320 MB offers best value for money.
3. If you are going for 17'' monitor make sure its widescreen, or better still go for 19'' widescreen.
4. A 400 W SMPS from a reputed brand (it doesn't cost that much)
5. DDR2 800 MHz RAM instead of 667 MHz.

No, I'm not into overclocking.

Could you please tell me the advantages of widescreen?
Also is it possible to change the aspect ratio in a widescreen monitor?

I don't want to spend much on a graphics card. A medium level card will do for me. I don't plan to use SLi either.

I visited a computer dealer and he advised me to go for 1 GB of RAM with C2D E6420, as C2D is a very powerful processor as it it is. Is this OK for gaming?

c2d , well it depends on how much u OC . and frankly i dont have a very good idea abt which model .

But 1 GB RAM is no way enough . games like spider man 3 ask for 1gb , so for gaming 1gb is too low to buy now . i had bought 1 gb ram 2 years back . so 1gb is quite out of the question for gaming. 2gb is minimmum now for gaming pc's . see if u can get 1 gb + 1gb ddr2 @ 800mhz . i dont know abt its conflicts with intel boards . but since u r going for a dedicated card u shud go 4 asus.
if u're not in a hurry , buy the computer after a month or go 4 computer ( a mobo with onboard graphics ) and buy the g-card a month later . ati(amd) cards are to be released by july22 . so u can expect price drops and u have high possibility of getting something much better for the same money.

plz specify ur budget . then others can tell u wat they feel is better much easily if u do that .

bye

and u might want to ask 'Choto Cheeta' abt this. He has quite a knowledge abt these latest hardwares i felt .right now , i am seeking his advice to build my friend a pc.
